Our Financial Policy
A true work of God may utilize money, but it never depends on it; it relies solely on the power of the Holy Spirit. When a ministry depends on money, it ceases to be a genuine work of God.
Jesus' ministry relied solely on the Holy Spirit. While He did accept monetary gifts from His followers to support His work (Luke 8:2-3), He never asked for money or made His financial needs known to anyone but His Father. Any ministry that seeks to honor God must follow this example today.
Jesus was the first physical "Body of Christ" on earth, and now the church is His spiritual "Body of Christ." We strive to follow Jesus' example in financial matters.
This ministry requires substantial funds, yet we have no millionaire supporters. Despite India's widespread poverty, we have sought the kingdom of God first, and He has always supplied our needs. Consequently, we have never been in debt since our ministry began.
We have never taken a bank loan or mortgage for constructing any of our meeting halls; this is simply how God has led us. We aim to follow the example of Jesus, the first "Body of Christ" on earth.
When people ask how they can support this ministry, we ask them to consider the following checklist:
-
Are you a born-again child of God? Do you agree with our doctrinal statement? Supporting God's work is a great honor and privilege reserved for His born-again children (3 John 7).
-
Do you have enough money for your family's needs? Ensure your giving does not place a financial strain on your family. Your family's needs come first (Mark 7:9-13; 1 Tim. 5:8). Our heavenly Father is rich and does not want His children to suffer because they gave money for His work.
-
Do you have any large debts to repay? Clear your debts first. God wants His children to live debt-free lives. We must give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar before giving to God, as God does not want us to give Him money owed to others (Matt. 22:21; Rom. 13:8). (Note: A house loan or vehicle loan is not considered a "debt" in this context, as the asset is equal in value to the loan, provided the vehicle is insured for the loan amount.)
-
Do you have a clear conscience? Have you reconciled with those you have hurt? God will not accept an offering from someone who has wronged others and not sought reconciliation (Matt. 5:23-24).
-
Are you giving freely and cheerfully, without pressure from anyone, including yourself? God loves cheerful givers, not reluctant ones. He does not want gifts given under pressure, to fulfill obligations, to ease conscience, or to receive rewards in return (2 Cor. 9:7).
Please consider this checklist carefully. We strive to follow the example and teachings of our Lord Jesus in financial matters.
